FUNCTION
By virtue of P.D.
221 issued on 24 September 1972, the DFA took over supervision of
the United Nations Educational, Scientific & Cultural
Organizations (UNESCO). The UNESCO National Commission of
the Philippines was created on 17 October 1946 through R.A. 621,
as amended by R.A. 892 and R.A. 3849.
The Commission was
created under the Office of the President of the Philippines to
serve as a liaison agency between the Philippine government and
the UNESCO as well as associate principal bodies in the
Philippines interested in educational, scientific and cultural
matters.
