FUNCTION The Office of United Nations and International Organizations is responsible for Philippine participation and negotiations in the United Nations and other International Organizations, as well as in providing staff support and policy guidance in the coordination, supervision, monitoring, integration, and reporting of the Philippine Government operations in the United Nations System and other international organizations. Headed by an Assistant Secretary and an Executive Director, it has six (6) divisions under the same number of Directors:
The Office of United Nations and International Organizations implements the multilateral foreign policy of the Philippines, bearing in mind that Philippine initiates must contribute to the attainment of the goals specified in the 10 point programme of government of the Philippines and the Medium Term Development Plan entitled Angat Pinoy 2004. The Office also actively supports United Nations activities in promoting peace and sustainable development of humankind in the conditions of globalization, and under a regime of respect for human rights, law and justice. As such, the foremost cross-cutting theme in Philippine multilateral diplomacy is the quest for attaining growth with equity.
