Statement

on
the request for humanitarian assistance
made on behalf of Mr. Jocelyn Bolante

The
Philippine Embassy has received separate requests from the family and legal
counsel of Mr. Jocelyn Bolante for assistance.
The
Philippine Embassy has been informed that Mr. Bolante is suffering from certain
medical conditions that require urgent and specialized medical attention that
might not be available at Mr. Bolante’s detention facility.
The
family of Mr. Bolante is making this request on humanitarian grounds.
The
Philippine Embassy has instructed the Philippine Consulate General in Chicago,
which has consular jurisdiction over this case, to look into the matter and
provide Mr. Bolante with appropriate and necessary assistance.
All
actions to be taken on this matter shall be in accordance with existing consular
rules and regulations.
The
matter of Mr. Bolante’s case before US immigration authorities is being
handled by his legal counsel. Queries
on this as well as other legal matters should be referred to his legal counsel.
