STATEMENT ON THE COUP IN THAILAND
20 SEPTEMBER 2006 

 

 

The Philippines continues to watch developments in Thailand closely and expresses the hope that the situation is resolved peacefully.

 

The Department of Foreign Affairs has instructed the Philippine Embassy in Bangkok to take appropriate measures to ensure the safety and welfare of all Filipinos in Thailand.

 

Thailand is a close and important friend of the Philippines and a partner in ASEAN.  END
