About the Philippines

The Republic of the Philippines is an archipelago of 7,107 islands in Southeast Asia. The country is both rich in history and natural resources.

Philippine culture is a healthy mix of East and West. During its pre-colonial era, early inhabitants of the islands had cultural and trade interactions with its Asian neighbors, including China. Western culture mixed with indigenous culture when the Spanish and the Americans colonized the Philippines. Spain occupied the country for over 300 years and the Americans for over 50 years. Foreign travelers will find it easy to communicate with Filipinos as most are conversant in English.

In terms of natural resources, the Philippines is one of the top ten richest areas in terms of biodiversity. It is richly endowed with magnificent landscapes and mountains, clear beaches and abundant wildlife, great for any outdoor tourist.

For investors, the Philippines has a thriving economy and is rich in natural resources and minerals such as gold, nickel chromite and zinc. With its population at over 90 million, the Philippines is a large domestic market.

There are many investment opportunities in the Philippines, especially in the sectors of business process outsourcing, information technology, finance, and infrastructure. Its human resources are also top-notch and highly-skilled, making it easy for investors to find the skills needed to run businesses.
