DFA Office of Consular Affairs Reiterates Warning Against Passport Fixers

08 August 2011 -   The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) reiterates its warning to the public against unscrupulous individuals who charge exhorbitant fees in exchange for passport assistance and other consular services.

This is in light of a recent apprehension and eventual arrest of nine (9) persons for violation of Pasay City Ordinance No. 624, "An Ordinance Prohibiting Fixing in Government Offices in Pasay City". The DFA Office of Intelligence Services (DFA-OIS) coordinated with the Pasay City Police on the said matter when a civic-oriented applicant reported a similar case to the DFA Office of Consular Affairs (DFA-OCA).

As death sentence for 2 Filipinos commuted to life imprisonment DFA Reiterates Call Against “Drug Mule” Modus Operandi

12 July 2011 - The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) reiterates its appeal to all Filipinos to avoid accepting offers from individuals or groups to carry illegal drugs in their luggages or in their person when going abroad in exchange for money, as harsh penalties await them in their destinations.

This is after the Philippine Consulate General in Shanghai reported that two Filipinos earlier meted the death with two-year reprieve sentences had their penalties commuted to life imprisonment by the Hangzhou Intermediate People's Court for their good behavior and performance in prison.

Passport Processing Operations Normalized

29 June 2011 -   The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) anounced that the Office of Consular Affairs' (OCA) electronic passport (e-Passport) operations have normalized as previous operational concerns have been addressed.

"This is a very welcome development as we continue to work hard to improve services in our Regional Consular Offices (RCOs) and Foreign Service Posts (FSPs)," said DFA Assistant Secretary for Consular Affairs Jaime Victor B. Ledda.

9 June 2011 - The Department of Foreign Affairs Office of Consular Affairs (DFA-OCA) regrets to inform the public that releases of passports of those who applied in Manila on May 6 and thereafter and whose passports are due for release on June 10, Friday, and thereafter will be delayed for a few days, or starting June 14 and thereafter.
