DFA Office of Consular Affairs Offers Special Lanes for OFWs Repatriated from Libya

28 February 2011 -   In an effort to fast-track the issuance of passports of Filipinos who were repatriated due to the political turmoil in the Middle East, the Department of Foreign Affairs Office of Consular Affairs (DFA-OCA) has designated special lanes for them in its main passport office, its 19 regional consular offices (RCOs) and its Passport Extension Office at the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA).

24-Hour Hotline Numbers in Place, “Libreng Tawag” Available at the DFA for Families of OFWs in Libya

26 February 2011 -  The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), in cooperation with SMART Communications, has made available a 24-hour Libreng Tawag for families of overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) who may wish to talk directly to their relatives in Libya.

Starting 9:00 this Saturday, families of OFWs can go to the south wing lobby of the DFA Main Building in Pasay City to avail of the Libreng Tawag joint public service program.

Advisory of the Department of Foreign Affairs to Families of OFWs in Libya

In view of the escalating violence and widespread insecurity in Libya, the Department is on a full relocation and repatriation mode.

The Philippine Embassy has activated relocation centers in Tripoli and Benghazi for OFWs to stay in, unless they feel safe where they are, in which case they should remain there until further notice.

The OFWs in the relocation centers will be moved to exit points where they will be transported out of Libya.

Limited Passport Processing at DFA-POEA Passport Extension Office on February 24 and 25

23 February 2011 -  In anticipation of the 25th Anniversary celebration of the EDSA People Power Revolution at the Ortigas area, the Department of Foreign Affairs Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (DFA-POEA) Passport Extension Office will have limited passport processing activities on February 24 and 25.

DFA Issues Advisory on Travel to Libya, Bahrain and Yemen

21 February 2011 - The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) advises Filipinos who have plans to proceed to Libya, Bahrain or Yemen to defer non-essential and non-urgent travels, until the security situation in those countries have stabilized.
