14 June 2012 - The Philippine Embassy in Bahrain, led by Ambassador Ma. Corazon Yap-Bahjin, together with different Filipino organizations and the Philippine School Bahrain, commemorated the 114th Anniversary of the Proclamation of Philippine Independence with a flag-raising ceremony and a short program at the Embassy grounds on June 12.
About 100 people attended the event. During the program, Fr. Ding Camus, Ustadz Nabeel Yusuf, and Rev. Bonifacio Villanueva led the invocation.
Embassy officers and the personnel of the Philippine Overseas Labor Office (POLO) read the Independence Day messages of President Benigno S. Aquino III, Foreign Affairs Secretary Albert F. del Rosario, and Labor and Employment Secretary Rosalinda D. Baldoz. A community breakfast followed after the program.
In the evening, the Embassy hosted a diplomatic reception at the Golden Tulip Hotel which was attended by about 250 well-wishers, including top Bahraini government officials, diplomats, businessmen and Filipino community leaders. END
