21 June 2012 - With the theme "Araw ng Kalayaan at Pagkakaisa sa Oman", the Filipino community in Oman, headed by the Filipino Community Social Club (FILCOSOC), celebrated the 114th anniversary of the declaration of Philippine Independence with a vibrant cultural show participated by all of FILCOSOC's 16 affiliated groups.
The variety show was attended by more than 400 guests including Omani and other foreign nationals. The evening was capped by a captivating musical performance by Filipino artist Bugoy Drilon.
In his remarks, Philippine Ambassador to Oman Joselito A. Jimeno, the guest of honor, called upon the Filipino community to exercise their civic duty and register as overseas absentee voters, a prerequisite for overseas Filipinos to vote in the 2013 National Elections.
