Filipinos in Dhaka Celebrate Independence Day, Ambassador Speaks on Tuwid na Daan Governance

28 June 2012- Philippine Ambassador to Bangladesh Bahnarim A. Guinomla greeted members of the Filipino Grand Alliance in Bangladesh (FGAB) during their Independence Day program held at  the Baton Rouge Restaurant in Dhaka on  June 8.

Dhaka_PE_Inde_2In his remarks, the Ambassador said, "Sa tuwid na daan na inaadhika ngayon ng ating Pamahalaan, ang pagkawalang bahid at tapat na pagsisilbi ang tinatahak na landas ng ating bayan tungo sa  kaunlaran."

"Nais ng ating Pangulo na, higit sa lahat, ang Pilipinas at ang mga Pilipino ay makikilala sa pagkakaroon ng integridad at walang bahid ng kurapsyon. Dahil ang tiwala ang pundasyon ng lahat ng bawat relasyon, maging ito'y tao sa tao, kalakalan sa kalakalan, o bansa sa bansa."

Dhaka_PE_Inde_3The Ambassador also greeted the FGAB members and their guests on the occasion of the National Migrants Day and reiterated his call for those qualified to register for the next elections.

During the program, the association, led by its Vice President, Ms. Amelita  Khairuddin, presented dance numbers including Harana Bahay Kubo, Cariñosa, Tinikling, Pandango sa Ilaw, Palayok, Bulaklakan and Singkil.

Some of the foreign guests who had lived in the Philippines many years ago felt nostalgic watching the show.

Social Welfare and Development Secretary Corazon J. Soliman, who was visiting Dhaka, also attended the program with her husband, Atty. Hector D. Soliman of Maxwell Stamp Ltd. END
