Philippine Embassy in Budapest Celebrates 114th Independence Day with Diplomatic Reception and “Pistang Pilipino sa Hungary"

3 July 2012- The Philippine Embassy in Budapest held a reception on June 18 at the Sofitel Budapest to celebrate the 114th anniversary of the proclamation of Philippine Independence.

The guests included high-ranking officials from the Hungarian Government, from the diplomatic corps, the Hungarian business sector, and leaders from the Filipino community.

The event was likewise a rare opportunity to showcase Philippine products not available in Hungary, such as San Miguel Beer, Paradise Mango Rum liqueur and various cookies from COMFOODS.

The guests were also appreciative of the exquisite shawls from Silk Cocoon which were displayed inside the reception hall.

On June 24, the Embassy, together with the Filipino Community organized the "Pistang Pilipino sa Hungary".

Budapest_PE_Indep_3Around 100 Filipinos and their families attended the event.

The Pista commenced with a mass and was followed by the reading of the messages of President Benigno S. Aquino III and Foreign Affairs Secretary Albert F. del Rosario.

Lunch was soon followed by a cultural program wherein Philippine folk dances such as "Itik-Itik" and "Tinikling" were performed.

There were also games for the children such as "pabitin" and "musical chairs".

Philippine products were given out in the raffle draw.  END
