Phl Embassy in Brasilia Celebrates Philippine National Day and Rizal’s 151st Birth Anniversary

4 July 2012- Philippine Ambassador to Brazil Eva G. Betita led the officers and staff of the Philippine Embassy in Brasilia, members of the Filipino community and special guests in commemorating the 114th anniversary of the proclamation of Philippine Independence and the 151st birth anniversary of Dr. Jose Rizal last June 29.

 

Brasillia_PE_IndepThe celebrations were held at the Embassy grounds.

The celebration started with the flag-raising ceremony in the morning followed by the laying of wreath at Rizal's bust.

At the wreath-laying ceremony, Ambassador Betita was assisted by Mr. Carlos Augusto Loureiro de Carvalho, Director of the Associação dos Diplomatas Brasileiros (Association of Brazilian Diplomats).

After the Ambassador's remarks, the attendees were treated to a traditional Filipino breakfast.

Brasillia_PE_Indep_2In the evening, more than 100 guests composed of the diplomatic corps, Brazilian officials, Filipino community officers and members, and the media attended the reception held at the Ambassador's Residence.

The occasion also showcased Philippine tourist attractions through exhibit and display of posters of the theme "It´s More Fun in the Philippines" supplemented by a video presentation.

The program also included Philippine dances, such as the "Cariñosa" and the "Tinikling" performed by Embassy personnel and members of the Filipino Association of Brazil (FAB).

Brasillia_PE_Indep_3The program culminated with the awarding of a Certificate of Recognition to FAB for outstanding service to the community. Professor Barbara Bomfim, FAB President, received the award on behalf of the Association. END
