Famous Philippine Band True Faith Performs at Tap Seac Square in Macau

Macau_PCG_Indep_210 July 2012- In a rare occurrence, hundreds of Filipinos in Macau gathered at Macau's Tap Seac Square last June 17 to celebrate the 114th Philippine Independence Day through a concert by True Faith Band.

The event was organized by the Filipino Pharmacists Association and supported by Smart (PLDT) Telecommunications (Smart Pinoy) Company.

Many Filipinos workers were able to attend the event because it was held on a Sunday.

Philippine Consul General Renato L. Villapando addressed the enthusiastic crowd representing various Filipino organizations in the territory.

In his message, the Consul General commended the Filipino workers for their contribution to the economic headway made in recent years by the Philippines.

He also encouraged the overseas workers to help promote the Philippines as a tourist destination, and for everyone to upgrade their skills and study the culture and language of Macau.

The program also featured performances by different Filipino organizations particularly by Orient dance tribe, Cordillera Group, Sto Nino Sinulog, MacFil Kids, Pinoy Hip Hop dancers, and Filipino Dynamite band. It was highlighted by the performance of True Faith band flown in from the Philippines.

The event was part of a series of activities that included a performance by the prize-winning University of Santo Tomas Singers and simple ceremonies on June 12 to commemorate the 114th Anniversary of the Proclamation of Philippine independence. END
