On June 10, the Embassy, in coordination with the Filipino Community Organizing Committee (FCOC), successfully held the annual Barrio Fiesta at the Embassy grounds in an anticipated celebration of the 114th Philippine Independence Day.

This year's Barrio Fiesta was a celebration of Filipino food, fun and fine arts.

Members of the Filipino community served authentic Filipino dishes, desserts and other food products during the event.

A visual art exhibition entitled "Pinoy Artists: Bangkok Art Experience 2012" was also conducted featuring the works of the art group MASA (Malalayang Alagad ng Sining at Adhikain).

In line with the Philippine Government's 2012 theme "Kalayaan: pananagutan ng bayan para sa tuwid na daan," the Barrio Fiesta gave Filipinos in Thailand an opportunity to gather and celebrate Filipino identity and values.

The FCOC in Bangkok, Thailand actively promotes and conducts activities that help in keeping the Filipino community vibrant and united.

The event, which started with the Philippine flag ceremony followed by a thanksgiving mass, was attended by hundreds of Filipinos and foreigners. END
