23 August 2012- Philippine Ambassador to Kenya and Mrs. Domingo D. Lucenario, Jr. led the Filipino community in Kenya in commemorating the 114th anniversary of Philippine Independence at the Embassy premises in Nairobi on June 10.

The new consular wing of the Embassy was then inaugurated, blessed and opened for service immediately with Embassy personnel accepting applications for overseas absentee voting (OAV) registration during the day.
A reception was held in the afternoon with a Barrio Fiesta theme featuring Filipino cuisine favorites like Lechon, Adobo and Fish balls.
Embassy personnel and members of the Filipino community in Kenya performed the Tinikling, Subli and CariƱosa to the delight of the crowd.

Traditional Filipino games such as the pabitin, habulan, and taguan for the kids and a Pinoy Genio history quiz for adults made the celebration even more memorable.
