21 June 2012 - To commemorate the 151st birth anniversary of Dr. Jose P. Rizal, a film showing on the life on the national hero was held at Sentro Rizal at the Philippine Embassy in Muscat last June 19 and 20.
The two-day event was attended by about 50 third and fourth year high school students of the Philippine School, Oman.

The Rizal film showing was a fitting initial offering of the Sentro Rizal cultural center and library, the first in the Middle East, which was inaugurated last June 12, as the highlight of the Embassy's celebration of the 114th anniversary of the declaration of Philippine Independence.
The award-winning movie, José Rizal by Marilou Diaz Abaya, captivated the students. By showing the life of Rizal, it is hoped that students would be educated of Rizal's greatness and aspirations and enable the expatriate children to reconnect with their nation's colorful history, thus instilling pride and nationalism.
