4 July 2012- The Philippine Consulate General in Honolulu, headed by Consul General Julius Torres, led the Knights of Rizal-Hawaii Chapter in the celebration of Dr. Jose P. Rizal's 151st birthday at the Consulate last June 16.
Mr. Raymund Liongson, Commander of the Knights of Rizal-Hawaii Chapter, delivered the opening remarks.
The event, which centered on the theme "Rizal, in Eyes of a Kama'aina", was attended by Knights of Rizal members and candidates.
The guest speaker, Mr. Bob Hampton, President of Waikiki Beach Activities, gave his perspective as a kama'aina, the Hawaiian term for long-term resident/"child of the island", on Dr. Rizal's role as an inspiration to Filipino men and Filipino youth in Hawaii.
The event also featured the music video "Sino Ka Ba Jose Rizal?/Gamu Gamu."
