4 July 2012- The Philippine Consulate General in Barcelona commemorated the birth of Philippine National Hero, Dr. Jose Rizal, with the screening of "Jose Rizal, the First Hero," a 45-minute documentary produced and directed by a group of young Filipino filmmakers last June 22.
The event was attended by leaders and members of the Filipino community in Barcelona.
Philippine Consul General to Barcelona Catalino R. Dilem, Jr. welcomed the documentary's producer, Mr. Jourdan Sebastian, who graced the screening at the Consulate.
Mr. Sebastian provided the audience a glimpse of the stories behind the production, including the aim of his group, the Maestro Filipino, to use this documentary and their succeeding projects to inspire a generation of Filipinos, to rediscover their identity and to appreciate and love the heritage of their country.
The documentary highlighted the life and the mystery that enshrouds Dr. Rizal.
