27 February 2013 - The Philippine Consulate General in San Francisco commemorated the 27th Anniversary of the EDSA People Power Revolution on February 25, with a flag-raising and a “Panunumpa sa Watawat” ceremony led by Consul General Marciano A. Paynor, Jr.

In his remarks, Consul General Paynor highlighted the theme for this year’s celebration – “Pilipinas Natin: Abot Tanaw Na” in which he emphasized “the need to remember and honor the sacrifices of those who fought to bring down a dictatorship so that we can enjoy the freedom and democracy we have today.”

He also stated that “while we remember, we also have the obligation to our beloved country to see to it that it remains a free and sovereign country by being a part of our country’s governance and participating at the national elections through the overseas absentee voting.”

The program ended with the singing of the patriotic song, “Bayan Ko.” END
