4 March 2013 - “Health is Wealth” was the fitting title to a forum held at the Philippine Consulate General in Milan on February 26 to highlight the week-long observance of the 27th Anniversary of the EDSA People Power Revolution organized by the Consulate in cooperation with the Philippine Overseas Labor Office (POLO).
The Vice President of the Philippine Nurses Association of Milan (TPNAM), Mr. Michael De Los Reyes was tapped as resource person for the health forum. Only one of a handful of licensed and practicing nurses in Milan, Mr. De Los Reyes focused his interactive, extensive and lively discussion on hypertension and stroke and their preventive measures.
His other eye-opening topic was on HIV/AIDS, dispelling pre-conceived notions with facts about the fearsome virus. He added that all are responsible for the shape they are in, and challenged everybody to keep one’s health and heart in good physical shape to better serve our respective families and ultimately, our country.
The week-long celebration opened with a simple ribbon-cutting of the photo exhibit at the Consulate lobby on February 21 by Consul General Lourdes S. Tabamo.
The occasion also started the public viewing of the EDSA People Power video strategically positioned at the first floor community hall.
On February 25, Consul Tabamo read the President’s EDSA message during the Monday flag-raising ceremony attended by Consulate staff and applicants.
