4 March 2013 - Philippine Embassy in Budapest commemorated the 27th Anniversary of EDSA People Power Revolution last February 24, a day earlier than the revolution’s actual date, in order to accommodate a larger number of Filipino community members in Budapest.
Philippine Ambassador to Hungary Eleanor L. Jaucian led the singing of the Philippine National Anthem followed by the recitation of the Panunumpa sa Watawat.
Ambassador Jaucian also provided a short background of this commemoration and also invited some members of the community and Embassy personnel to share their experiences on the EDSA Revolution. Afterwards, the short documentary video on Ninoy entitled Puso at Diwa ni Ninoy was shown.
Members of the Filipino community also donned yellow ribbons on their left chest to signify their remembrance of the peaceful triumph of the Filipino people. Several paraphernalia on Ninoy and Cory Aquino were also on display.
The celebration ended with a group singing of Handog ng Pilipino sa Mundo and Magkaisa, which brought warmth to the hearts of Filipinos on a cold winter day. END
