5 March 2013 - The Philippine Embassy in Prague celebrated the 27th Anniversary of the EDSA People Power Revolution on February 25, with a flag-raising ceremony at the Philippine Embassy Chancery, followed by flower-offering at the EDSA People Power Section at its Culture and Trade Room.
Philippine Ambassador to the Czech Republic Evelyn D. Austria-Garcia shared her personal experiences with the personnel of the Embassy on the events in the 1986 EDSA Revolution and her deep insights on the significance of unity, moral ascendency, generosity, and kindness – The “SPIRIT of EDSA” – in attaining the country’s goals of development and inclusive growth for all Filipinos.
After the flower offering, the Embassy personnel watched the video-documentary film entitled “NINOY: The Heart and Soul”, followed by a hearty Filipino breakfast.
The OFWs working in Teleplan, Prague were not to be outshined. Although they were not able to attend the Embassy’s EDSA celebration, they managed to commemorate the Anniversary by watching the same video-documentary film about Ninoy, wearing yellow ribbons to remember the martyrdom of the late Senator Benigno Aquino, Jr. who was the inspiration for the Philippines’ EDSA People Power Revolution.
