PHL Embassy in Madrid Celebrates 27th Anniversary of EDSA People Power Revolution

6 March 2013 – The Philippine Embassy in Madrid, in cooperation with Tahanan (the umbrella organization of most of the Filipino community organizations in Madrid), organized a Eucharistic Mass to commemorate the 27th Anniversary of the EDSA People Power Revolution on February 24 at the Nuestro Señora del Espino in Madrid.

The Eucharistic Mass featured special petitions to help Filipinos keep the spirit of EDSA alive, community singing of Handog ng Pilipino sa Mundo, and a short speech by Philippine Ambassador to Spain Carlos C. Salinas.

In his speech, Ambassador Salinas noted the achievements of the Filipino people during EDSA and imparted to the Community the good news about the current state of the Philippine economy. He also took the opportunity to thank the members of the community for their continued contribution to national development.

The Embassy also organized screenings of the two (2) video documentaries on EDSA, namely, Ninoy: The Heart and Soul and Puso at Diwa ni Ninoy, at the Consular Section of the Chancery and the Philippine Overseas Labor Office-Overseas Workers’ Welfare Administration (POLO-OWWA) Office from February 25 to March 01.

In addition to the abovementioned activities, the POLO-OWWA Office also organized a stress management seminar for women as part of its EDSA Day activities on February 24. END.
