PHL Embassy in Brasilia Celebrates 27th Anniversary of EDSA People Power Revolution

8 March 2013 –The Philippine Embassy in Brasilia celebrated the 27th Anniversary of the EDSA People Power Revolution on February 24.

The Embassy invited Brazilian contacts from the government, the academe, the civil society and the Filipino community to a Thanksgiving Mass and simple program.

Brasilia 2With the theme "Pilipinas Natin, Abot Tanaw Na," Philippine Ambassador to Brazil Eva G. Betita underscored the economic gains achieved by the country under President Benigno S. Aquino III´s platform of good governance.

Ambassador Betita also took the opportunity to update the community about the West Philippine Sea issue, and the Philippine Government´s decision to bring the case before an Arbitral Tribunal under the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS).

At the end of the program, the Embassy launched the Embassy´s website (www.philembassybrasilia.org), which provides information about the country, the Embassy´s consular services, and important links for Philippine tourism, business and investment opportunities.

The event culminated with a simple Filipino merienda and fellowship. END
