
19 March 2013 - The Philippine Embassy in Vienna celebrated the 27th Anniversary of the EDSA People Power Revolution of 1986 with the Filipino community in Vienna on separate occasions.
On February 24, Philippine Ambassador to Austria Lourdes O. Yparraguirre addressed the Filipino community during the Sunday Mass at Pfarre Johann Kapistran officiated by Rev. Fr. Ron Sandoval, SVD.
The message of Ambassador Yparraguirre focused on this year’s theme “Pilipinas Natin, Abot Tanaw Na”, which speaks of the importance of every Filipino’s contribution to be an agent of change and a force for good in the country. The message also speaks of its continuing revolution and the progress that the Filipinos have made in fulfilling the promise of EDSA. 
On February 25, the Philippine Embassy led by Ambassador Yparraguirre, conducted a “Kumustahan” with the Filipino community in Vienna during the blessing of the new office of the Philippine National Bank –
Remittance Center under its new management and visits to two Austrian-owned travel agencies, which caters to Filipinos and Austrians traveling to the Philippines.
In her message to the community, Ambassador Yparraguirre cited the great strides made by the Filipino people since EDSA 1986 in rebuilding the country’s democratic institutions and revitalizing the economy.
She highlighted recent surveys that show the increasing confidence of the international business community and the Filipino people on a brighter future for the country.
The “Kumustahan” was also attended by Cultural Attaché Maria Antonia Bosa, leaders and members of the Filipino-Austrian community in Vienna and some Austrian guests.
On March 01, Ambassador Yparraguirre attended the re-launching of i-Remit Europe Remittance Consulting AG last March 01 in Vienna. It is another special occasion in celebration of EDSA 27.
In her message, Ambassador Yparraguirre emphasized the growing number of business establishments in Austria that are owned by Filipinos, which showcase the Filipino entrepreneurial spirit and capabilities, or business that provide jobs for Filipinos, or companies that serve the needs of the 30,000-strong Filipino-Austrian community and the general public.
Ambassador Yparraguirre also said that the Filipinos in Austria are not just remitters of cash, but are also partners in development and that the Filipino people are strongly grateful for the Filipino diaspora’s expertise, skills, networks, material and financial support, which all contribute to a robust Philippine economy.
