26 January 2010 - In an effort to boost bilateral ties between the Philippines and Myanmar, a special training course titled "Capacity Building on Assessment and Control of Occupational Safety and Health Hazards for Factories and General Labour Laws Inspection Department of the Ministry of Labour of the Government of Myanmar" will be held in the Philippines for 10 participants from Myanmar.
The training course will be conducted by the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) and the Philippine Occupational Safety and Health Center (OSHC) from 31 January to 20 February.
The course is funded by the Government of Japan through the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
The 10 delegates from Myanmar who will participate in the program are: U Win Kyaing, U Soe Win Sein, U Thein Win, U Kyaw Kyaw Tun, Daw Pwint Phyu Khine, U Okkar Thein, U Min Min Win, U Myint Than, U Saw Htay Myint Oo and U Linn Minn Htike.
Falling under the purview of the Third Country Training Program (TCTP), the implementation of the training course was initiated by a request submitted by the Government of Myanmar through the Japan-Southeast Asian Meeting for South-South Cooperation (J-SEAM) mechanism.
As the implementing agency of the program, the OSHC is the national training institution of the Philippines for occupational safety and health. It conducts research and studies in the fields of occupational safety, health and environment control with the general objective of improving the country's workplace safety and health conditions.
