9 February 2010 - The Philippine Embassy in Mexico reported that Ambassador Francisco M. Ortigas III sent Minister Lilybeth R. Deapera and Assistance to Nationals (ATN) Officer Juliet A. Oresca to San Pedro Sula, Honduras on January 27 to 29 to render consular outreach services for the Filipino community there.
This was the first time that the Embassy conducted a consular outreach in Honduras.
To ensure the success of the outreach activity and the participation of the Filipino community, the Embassy coordinated with Philippine Honorary Consul to Honduras Mr. Tito Bendeck Bonilla, Filipino commmunity leaders Susana Avilla, Maria Caridad Bundalian and Hespero Jingco.
The community leaders sent emails, text messages and made home visits to members of the Filipino community to inform them of the outreach activity.
The office of Honorary Consul Bendeck and the Good Harvest Christian Academy owned by Mr. Jingco were the venues for the consular outreach visit.
The Embassy team received and processed 39 Machine Readable Passport (MRP) applications, one Report of Loss, 10 Reports of Birth and one Report of Marriage.
The Filipino community in Honduras expressed their appreciation to Ambassador Ortigas for sending the consular team to San Pedro Sula, especially at this time when a number of them would find it difficult to go to Mexico to apply for a renewal of their passports. END
