14 March 2013- The Philippine Embassy together with the Filipino community members in Athens, Greece celebrated the National Year of Rice (NYR) on March 09 at the Embassy grounds.
During the Embassy’s third regular community meeting, the Embassy presented a power point presentation on the National Year of Rice from the latter’s website, a portion of the State of the Nation Address of the President on the goal to reach rice self-sufficiency, an NYR briefer, facts about rice, and a reminder on how the Filipinos could contribute to their country in achieving rice self sufficiency.
The Embassy personnel and the Filcom members also feasted on rice-based products like biko, bibingka, suman, palitaw, among others, which were prepared by the Embassy and Filipino community members to celebrate the event.
Embassy Personnel recited the Panatang Makapalay after its regular flag-raising ceremony on March 11 held at the Embassy.
The Embassy also uploaded to its website and posted at the consular section the tarpaulin design and campaign facts of the NYR for the information of our kababayans. END
