10 February 2010 - The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) will be assisting the National Statistics Office (NSO) in the conduct of the 2010 National Census of Population and Housing (2010 CPH) which will start on May 17.
NSO Administrator Carmelita N. Ericta has requested Foreign Affairs Secretary Alberto G. Romulo's assistance in the upcoming 2010 CPH by conducting a publicity and information drive among Filipinos overseas to actively participate in the upcoming census.The DFA would also assist in the issuance in the enumeration of Filipinos working in Philippine embassies, missions, and consulate offices abroad.
The NSO also requested the DFA to get an estimate number of these employees and their relatives to know the number of CPH forms required.The National Statistical Coordination Board (NSCB) also issued a Resolution last July 6, 2009 "Enjoining other Government Agencies to Provide Assistance to the NSO for the Conduct of the 2010 Census of Population and Housing."
The 2010 CPH aims to take inventory of the total population and housing units in the Philippines as well as to collect facts about their characteristics. The collected statistical data will be utilized for the formulation of rational plans and programs for the national and local development of the country. END
