RCO-Bacolod Participates in “Run to Save Lives”

13 February 2013 - The personnel of the Department of Foreign Affairs’ Regional Consular Office in Bacolod City (RCO-Bacolod) joined the nationwide “Run to Save Lives” held in that city on February 10.

“Run to Save Lives” was sponsored by the Philippine Red Cross (PRC) under its Red Cross 143 program.

Around 3,000 runners from the different parts of Negros Occidental ran for humanity as they went for the 3K, 5K, 10K and the 21K fun run categories.

Registered runners were also invited to become Red Cross 143 volunteers. Red Cross 143, or Red Cross “I Love You,” is a flagship volunteer program of the Philippine Red Cross that teaches people to look after and care for their respective communities.

Bacolod 2Red Cross 143 envisions a network of volunteers who would provide essential information and be mobilized in the field in times of emergencies or disasters. The program upholds and encourages the spirit of volunteerism in the community, thereby delivering timely and effective humanitarian assistance.

The Chairperson of PRC-Negros Occidental, retired Regional Trial Court Judge Demosthenes Magallanes, personally thanked RCO-Bacolod’s Officer-in-Charge Joel Blas for RCO- Bacolod’s cash donation to the victims of Typhoon ‘Pablo’ and for the continued support to their cause. END
