21 February 2013 – Foreign Affairs Secretary Albert F. del Rosario met with Brunei’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade II Pehin Lim Jock Seng on February 21 to discuss Brunei’s priorities during its chairmanship of ASEAN in 2013.
During their meeting, Secretary del Rosario reiterated the Philippines’ full support of Brunei’s chairmanship and expressed confidence that Brunei’s stewardship of ASEAN will address the challenges to the region’s environment, including economic growth, social and cultural progress and stability of the region.
Minister Lim Jock Seng was accompanied by Brunei’s Minister of Energy Pehin Dato Dr. Haji Mohammad Yasmin Haji Umar, Brunei’s Ambassador to the Philippines H.E. Malai Halimah Yussof, Ministry of Energy’s Permanent Secretary Haji Jamain Haji Jalaihi, Pengiran Datin Shazainah Pg Dato Shariffuddin of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade (MOFAT) and Dk. Nooraslena Pg DP Hj Sallehuddin, also of MOFAT.
ASEAN is composed of Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Viet Nam. END
