13 March 2013 – Pursuant to Commission on Elections (COMELEC) Resolution 9653, the period for filing the manifestation of intent to vote has been extended to 13 May 2013, the last day of voting.

COMELEC Resolution 9653 was promulgated last March 05, in effect, reactivating the registration of previously de-listed or deactivated overseas voters who failed to vote in the last two elections.

With this latest development, more than 230,000 overseas voters are made eligible to vote in the upcoming national elections, bringing back the total number of overseas voters to more than 950,000.

The promulgation of COMELEC Resolution 9653 testify to the truth of the slogan “KASALI KAYO DITO,” which also supports the Department of Foreign Affairs-Overseas Absentee Voting Secretariat (DFA-OAVS) main campain slogan “BOTO NYO … KINABUKASAN NAMIN …” that has been successful in encouraging more overseas voters to participate in the electoral process.
