RP to Share Interfaith Experience During SNAMMM

13 March 2010 - The Special Non-Aligned Movement Ministerial Meeting (SNAMMM) on Interfaith Dialogue and Cooperation for Peace and Development that will take place in Manila next week presents an excellent opportunity for the Philippines to share its experience in inter-religious cooperation.

Foreign Affairs Undersecretary Rafael Seguis said the Philippines will highlight its efforts to promote interfaith dialogue, particularly in Mindanao, during the three-day meeting that starts at the Philippine International Convention Center on Tuesday, March 16.

Secretary Romulo to Human Rights Council: Let us Enhance International Partnership, Capacity-Building and Dialogue on Human Rights

13 March 2010 - Secretary of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Alberto G. Romulo, called on the Human Rights Council to enhance international partnership, capacity-building and dialogue on human rights in order to fulfill its mandate to promote and protect all human rights. He made the call when he delivered on 2 March 2010 the Philippine national statement at the human rights body's High-Level Segment.

Secretary Romulo pledged the continued support of the Philippines to the work for the Human Rights Council, of which it was a founding member. The Philippines served as its Vice-President last year and plays a constructive role in the Council through the Philippine Permanent Mission in Geneva. Romulo announced the Candidature of the Philippines for re-election to the Human Rights Council for the period of 2011-2013, and in this regard, highlighted Philippine progress and initiatives on human rights at the national, regional and international levels.
