17 Filipino Seafarers Released from Captivity in Somalia to Arrive Home

06 March 2010 - The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) reported today that the 17 Filipino seafarers aboard the Taiwanese-flagged FV Win Far 161, which was released from captivity off the coast of Somalia on February 11 (Philippine time), will arrive in Manila tomorrow morning from Kaoshung, Taiwan.

Expected to welcome them at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport are representatives from the DFA Office of the Undersecretary for Migrant Workers Affairs (DFA-OUMWA), the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA), and their manning agency.

GRP and MILF Conclude Clarificatory Talks on Optimistic Note

5 March 2010 - The Government of the Republic of the Philippines (GRP) reiterated its commitment to forging a peace pact with the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) as both sides met in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia to seek clarification on the latter's draft peace agreement.
