No Filipino Victim in Portugal Floods—DFA

24 February 2010 - The Philippine Embassy in Lisbon reported today that there are no Filipinos affected in the flash floods and mudslides that swept Madeira Island, Portugal last February 20.

Philippine Ambassador to Lisbon Teresa Barsana reported to the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) that per information from Philippine honorary consul Manuel Pinhiero, there is no record of Filipinos residing in the Madeira area, and if any one was visiting or was there at that time, Mr. Pinhiero is also not aware of any Filipino who asked for assistance due to the floods.

DFA and Comelec Gear Up for the May 2010 Overseas Absentee Voting

24 February 2010-The Department of Foreign Affairs' Overseas Absentee Voting Secretariat (DFA-OAVS) and the Commission on Elections' Committee on Overseas Absentee Voting (COMELEC-COAV) are gearing up for the conduct of the May 2010 elections overseas with the Training on the Conduct of Overseas Absentee Voting, Counting and Canvassing for Purposes of the 2010 National Elections.

The training will be held on 24-26 February at the Heritage Hotel, Pasay City .
