DFA, COMELEC and PHILPOST sign MOA on the Conduct of Postal Voting Abroad

DFA_COMELEC_and_Philpost_MOA5 February 2010 - The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), the Commission on Elections (COMELEC), and the Philippine Postal Corporation (PHILPOST) signed a memorandum of agreement (MOA) on the implementation of overseas postal voting for the upcoming elections.

The MOA was signed by DFA Undersecretary for Special and Ocean Concerns Rafael E. Seguis, COMELEC Commissioner Armando C. Velasco, and PHILPOST Postmaster General Hector R.R. Villanueva last February 2 at the PHILPOST central office in Manila.

CA Confirms Seven New Ambassadors, Two Officers

04 February 2010 - The Commission on Appointments (CA) confirmed the appointments of seven Ambassadors Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary (AEPs) and two officers of the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) during its plenary session yesterday.

Confirmed by the CA were:

1.     Linglingay F. Lacanlale - AEP to the Kingdom of Thailand and Permanent Representative to the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific.  She is currently the AEP to Austria.

2.     Lourdes O. Yparraguire - AEP to the Republic of Austra, with concurrent jurisdiction over the Republic of Croatia, the Republic of Slovenia, and the Slovak Republic.  She is the Assistant Secretary for American Affairs.
