14 March 2013 - The Philippine Embassy in Paris provided on March 11 a briefing before 45 Tourism majors from the College of Saint Benilde and three accompanying faculty members at the Chancery.
Philippine Ambassador to France Cristina G. Ortega provided the students with information regarding the core activities of the Embassy, as well as the expanding bilateral relations between the Philippines and France.
The Ambassador underscored the conduct of cultural diplomacy by the Philippine mission and linked this with their possible role as representatives of the Philippines, as they carve out careers in the tourism services sector, often outside of the Philippines.
The Ambassador took the opportunity to invite the group to visit the Philippine Exhibition at the Musee de Quai Branly during its run from April 09 to July 14. They indicated their intention to return to Paris and visit the Museum on April 28, which incidentally kicks-off the “Philippine Week” of the three-month long exhibition.
During the open forum which followed the briefing, some students inquired on the employment prospects in France, while others shared their perspectives on how to be effective agents for promoting the Philippines when working abroad. Afterwards, the group partook of merienda prepared by the Embassy. END
