Canberra launching of Radyo Filipino in Canberra

19 March 2013- The Radyo Filipino Canberra (RFC) Broadcast was successfully launched on Saturday, March 16, at the CMS (Canberra Multicultural Service) in Holder by its President Ms. Gloria Ross and the whole RFC Team.

Philippine Ambassador to Australia Belen F. Anota led the live interviews, followed by Ms. Cecille Flores, Filipino Community Council of ACT (FCCACT) President; Mr. Albert de Jesus, PAA President; Prof. Paul Hutchcroft, Australian National University (ANU) College of Asia & the Pacific; Mr. Danilo Ambida, Couples for Christ (CFC) Head Elder; Pastor Eric Marquez, Jesus is Lord; Mr. Nestor Tampipi, FASCAN President; and Ms. Kotch Velasquez, Learning Filipino Together President.

Ambassador Anota congratulated the RFC for its launching and for successfully establishing a Filipino radio program in Canberra. She announced the upcoming Philippine National Elections and encouraged everyone that upon receipt of the election ballots, voters need to read and carefully follow the enclosed guidelines to ensure the validity of their votes, accomplish the ballots and send them immediately to the Embassy. Exercising their right of suffrage, as the Ambassador emphasized, shows love for the Philippines.

The RFC group aims to deliver social and cultural benefits to Filipin- Australians in Canberra and the surrounding regions. Its goal is to create a “bonding atmosphere” by raising greater awareness of the services and activities among the different Filipino community organizations. It will also provide Filipino music and entertainment, as well as education, news and community information to its audience.

RFC will be broadcasting under the license of the CMS 91.1 FM Station. It will be aired every Saturday, 10:00-11:00AM. END
