Philippine Consulate General pays tribute to War Hero and Guerilla Leader Lt. Col. Edwin Price Ramsey

19 March 2013 - The Philippine Consulate General attended the wake of World War II war hero Lieutenant Colonel Edwin Price Ramsey on March 14 at the St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church in Los Angeles.

Lieutenant Ramsey volunteered to serve with the 26th Cavalry of the Philippine Scouts, and after Japan invaded the Philippines, he led the last mounted United States Army Horse Cavalry charge for which he received the Silver Star.

After the fall of Bataan, Ramsey evaded capture by the Japanese to mobilize and later lead as many as 40,000 guerilla fighters in central Luzon. 

In June 1945 General Douglas MacArthur pinned on Lt. Col Ramsey the Distinguished Service Cross. END

Ph Embassy Bangkok Participates in Asean Business Forum Asean Exhibition

Bangkok  ASEAN Business forum

19 March 2013 - The Philippine Embassy in Bangkok participated in the ASEAN Business Forum ASEAN Exhibition held last February 27 and 28 at the Plaza Athenee Tower.

The Embassy displayed products such as dried mangoes, pili nuts, rice, coffee, coconut jams, coconut sugar, calamansi marmalade, and champorado at the Philippine booth. Tourism and investment brochures were also given to visitors. Some products of Great Eastern Drug, a subsidiary of major Philippine pharmateutical company, UNILAB, were also displayed at the Philippine booth.

The Philippine booth was supported by the Philippine Trade and Investment Center (PTIC), and the Office of the Special Agriculture Representative (OSAR). END
