18 March 2013 - The Philippine Consulate General in Macau and the Department of Tourism together made a pitch for the Philippines as the country that travelers must visit if they wish to have more fun and get more value for their money.

The pitch was made during a luncheon held at the Sofitel Hotel on March 13, which served as the venue for the launching of DOT’s audio-visual presentation, “It’s More Fun in the Philippines,” in Macau.

The event also served as an opportunity for Consul General Danilo T. Ibayan to highlight the progress achieved by the Philippines in its tourism promotion campaign. He cited the rapid increase in the number of visa applications received by the Consulate and the ease by which tourists can travel to choice destinations in the Philippines with airlines now flying more frequently between Macau and Manila and Clark.

Consul General Ibayan also cited the recent 12-notch upgrade that the Philippines achieved in the 2013 Travel and Tourism Competitiveness Report of the World Economic Forum.

The tourism promotion event was hosted by DOT Hong Kong Representative David Leung. It was attended by the media, travel agents, airline managers, and members of Macau’s education and hospitality sectors. END
