Filipino Director Brillante Mendoza’s Film “Lola” Competing at the Fribourg International Film Festival in Berne

Mendoza_at_fribourg_film_fest19 February 2010 - The Philippine Embassy in Berne, Switzerland reported that award-winning Filipino Director Brillante Mendoza's film "Lola" will be competing at the 24th Fribourg International Film Festival (FIFF) which will be held at the city of Fribourg from 13-20 March 2010.

 

The city of Fribourg is hosting the 24th Fribourg International Film Festival to promote quality and selected films from Asia, Africa and Latin America. The films selected by the FIFF engage audiences with images, stories and ideas that may not be conformist for a Swiss public.

Filipino-American J.R. Celski wins Bronze Medal in 2010 Winter Olympics

19 February 2010 - Philippine Consulate General in Vancouver reported to the Department of Foreign Affairs that Filipino-American, J.R. Celski, bagged a bronze medal in the Short Track Speed Skating category of the 2010 Olympic Winter Games, currently being held in Vancouver, Canada.

 

Mr. Celski, a Filipino-Polish speed skater, represented the United States. Raised in Washington, Mr. Cleski started inline skating at age 3 and transferred to short track speed skating in 2002.
