RP Embassy in Lebanon Promotes RP Tourism, Workers Rights in Diplomatic Spouses’ Meet

6 July 2010 - The Philippine Embassy in Lebanon hosted the monthly meeting of the Diplomatic Spouses Association of Lebanon (DSAL) which focused on the promotion of Philippine tourism and a briefing on migrant workers rights.

Mrs. Rosalie I. Asuque, spouse of Ambassador Gilberto G.B. Asuque, hosted the DSAL Coffee Morning on June 21 at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. Nicolas Baida in Dibaiye.

Mr. Baida was the Honorary Consul General of the Philippines in Lebanon from 21 June 1984 to 31 December 1992.

The DSAL Coffee Morning was an opportunity for the Embassy to promote the Philippines as a tourist destination.

Mrs. Asuque made a presentation on the various travel destinations in the Philippines,  assisted by the children of Embassy officers and staff.

Lebanon_Spouses_Meet-1The program also included a presentation by Caritas Lebanon Migrants Center of its  media campaign entitled "Treat Fairly To Be Served Kindly," which aims to raise the awareness of Lebanese employers on their obligation to protect the rights of their household service workers.

Caritas representatives made a brief presentation to the DSAL members on the media campaign.

Mr. Nicolas Baida and his wife Rita graciously opened their Dibaiye residence for the DSAL Coffee Morning, which was an opportunity for the couple to also discuss Lebanese art and architecture with the diplomatic spouses.  END
