Chilean Government Bids Adios to RP Envoy With Highest Award

Chile_Farewell17 July 2010 - Philippine Ambassador to Chile Maria Consuelo Puyat-Reyes received the "Orden al Merito de Chile, en el grado de Gran Cruz" award as a testament to her deep involvement in the field of civic and social awareness during her tenure as envoy to Chile on June 23.

Instituted in 1817, the award is given in recognition of the outstanding civil service performed by foreigners in Chile.

Present at the ceremony were Chilean Ministry of Foreign Affairs officials which include Minister Alfredo Moreno, Undersecretary Fernando Schmidt, Director General for Exterior Politics Alfonso Silva Navarro, Director of Protocol James Sinclair, and Head of the Asia and Pacific Office Ambassador Joaquin Montes.

Also present during the awarding ceremony were Philippine Honorary Consul Ingeborg Gwinner and members of the Diplomatic Corps.  END
