1 September 2010 - The Philippine Consulate General in Manado participated in the 1st Anniversary Celebration of Guinness World Records for the Largest Scuba Diving Lesson and Most People Scuba Diving Simultaneously in Manado City on August 16.
The event was held in Malalayang Beach and participated by around 300 professional and amateur divers, 25 of whom are from different countries. The Consulate was able to send a diving team consisting of Philippine Liaison Officer to the Philippine-Indonesian Border Committee Commander Armil Angeles (leader), Ms. Agatha Hizole, Ms. Novia Lambey, Mr. Agustus Harahap, and Ms. Joyce Marielle Vallena. On 16-17 August 2009, thousands of scuba divers gathered at Malalayang Beach in Manado to set a new Guinness World Record for the largest scuba diving lesson and to break the existing world record for the most people scuba diving simultaneously.
