3 March 2010, Vienna, Austria-Secretary of Foreign Affairs Alberto G. Romulo personally conveyed his congratulations to Ambassador Yukiya Amano on the latter's assumption as International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Director General.
During their meeting, the two officials agreed that the upcoming NPT Review Conference in May 2010, to be presided by the Philippines' Ambassador Libran Cabactulan, would be critical in advancing a nuclear-free world and ultimately, peace. Secretary Romulo also reaffirmed the expanding role of the IAEA in world affairs and reiterated the Philippines' earlier invitation for the Director General to visit Manila this year. END
