10 December 2003 – Foreign Affairs Secretary Blas F. Ople today welcomed the election of Mrs. Carlota Rosario C. Guerrero, wife of Philippine Ambassador to Bangladesh Jose Lino B. Guerrero as President of the ASEAN Ladies Association (ALA) in Dhaka for 2004 - 2005.

"I was delighted to hear of Charlotte’s recent election as President of the ASEAN Ladies Association in Dhaka. It makes us proud to have one of our own hold such an esteemed position," Secretary Ople said.

In his congratulatory message, the Secretary commended Mrs. Guerrero for her compassion, perseverance, and fidelity to duty, traits which he said are ideal for one who holds the leadership of the ASEAN Ladies Association. "I am certain that she will lead the ASEAN Ladies Association well and come up with endeavors that will further foster camaraderie and harmony between the Philippines and other ASEAN nationals," the Secretary added.

Ambassador and Mrs. Guerrero hosted the luncheon meeting of the ALA on 30 November 2003, during which the elections of the ALA were also held. Aside from the election of Mrs. Guerrero, Mrs. Zenaida M. Labrador of the Philippine Embassy in Dhaka was elected ALA Secretary. END.
