OPLE ASSURED BY PNP CHIEF ON IMMINENT RECAPTURE OF AL-GHOZI
Bali, Indonesia --- Foreign Affairs Secretary Blas F. Ople said he received an assurance from Philippine National Police Director-General Hermogenes Ebdane that the three suspected terrorists who escaped from Camp Crame will be recaptured within three days.
In a telephone call, General Ebdane informed Ople that he is sure that the PNP would be able to recapture suspected Indonesian terrorist Fathur Al-Ghozi and two other Abu Sayyaf bandits who broke loose from the Camp Crame maximum security jail.
Ople said he needed an update from the PNP chief about the recent jailbreak in case the matter was raised in his bilateral meetings with ASEAN and European foreign ministers.
“When I told him that this information seems to be overly optimistic, he assured me that there was sufficient basis for such optimism,” Secretary Ople said.
“I referred to this new and vital information when asked for details about the Philippine government’s efforts to recapture Al-Ghozi during the ASEM meeting,” Secretary Ople explained.
