TO HOST EAST ASIA-LATIN AMERICA MEETING OF SENIOR OFFICIALS
The Philippines will host the Fifth Senior Officials Meeting of the Forum
for East Asia-Latin America Cooperation (FEALAC) from 4 to 6 June 2003 in
Manila, an inter-regional intergovernmental forum to bring both regions closer
together.
It is expected that the meeting will result in ways and means to strengthen
the Forum to make it more responsive to today’s rapidly changing international
environment, as well as in specific measures and programs in the political
and economic fields.
The FEALAC brings together fifteen countries each from East Asia and Latin
America. Established in 1997, it has three working groups: economy and society,
politics and culture, and education, science and technology.
