DFA SECRETARY ALBERT LAUDS FILIPINA HK MEDAL OF HONOR AWARDEE
6 July 2004 – Secretary Delia Domingo Albert through the Philippine Consulate in Hong Kong, congratulated Adrielle M. Panares who was conferred the Medal of Honor by the Hong Kong SAR. She was conferred the award for her “invaluable contribution to the promotion of racial harmony in Hong Kong”. According to Secretary Albert Adrielle Panares is the first ethnic minority to be a recipient of the award, which is equivalent to a Presidential award given only to Hong Kong residents. “This is a Filipina worth emulating for her contribution to inter-racial dialogue overseas,” Secretary Albert said.
The Chief Executive granted awards to 376 persons in the current year’s Honour List. The July 1st issue of the South China Morning Post printed the list of awardees.
Ms. Panares is connected
with the International Social Services, a government funded institution
catering to different nationalities in Hong Kong since 1990. Ms. Panares
is reportedly a very active member of the Filipino community has been known
to be supportive of the activities of the Philippine Consulate according
