WITH FOREIGN AFFAIRS SECRETARY DELIA DOMINGO ALBERT, 28 JULY 2004

We discussed and explained our perspective and concerns about the issue.

We understand the circumstances that influenced the decision and approach of the Government of the Philippines.

We understand how difficult the situation was for the Government and for the People of the Philippines.

We are determined to stand resolute in the efforts to conquer terrorism and rejecting the demands of terrorists.

We will continue our cooperation especially on the priority of counter terrorism.

We appreciate the Philippine’s commitment to combat terrorism.

Australia and the Philippines are friends and this issue should not affect our good relationship.

Let’s move on.
